Hallelujah! He is risen! Terry woke early on this Easter morning. After
sleeping and relaxing yesterday, she was ready to start her day at 5:00
a.m. She swam 15 lengths in the pool and return to shower and dress with
John. Our group met for a quick sunrise service and then dined on ham and
eggs. Ron Voss and his assistant Domo arrived to drive us to Aeroport du
Port-au-Prince. We then took our final drive through the city. Our group
processed through a rather lengthy procedure of security, check-in and
customs before arriving at the gate. Several of the group took one final
opportunity to assist the Haitian economy by shopping in the airport gift
shop. Terry picked up a T-shirt for both of us and several small handmade
dolls for the girls. We boarded the plane and departed on time at 10:45
a.m. It was a fairly uneventful 2 1/2 hour flight to Miami International
Airport. We went through another lengthy process of immigration, customs
and check-in before settling down with the part of the group. It was then
that Terry's ear finally became unplugged after nearly 48 hours. Tim and
Terry walked around the airport and returned with popcorn for the group.
We headed for the gate at 4:00 p.m. It was here that we saw a young blonde
woman painted head to toe like a stripped leopard. A sea of head turned
wherever she went. The flight to Dallas/Ft. Worth went well. We used the
opportunity to read, rest and harass Tim. Terry walked down the isle past
Tim and dropped an ice cube down the back of his shirt. He was not amused.
We arrived in Texas at 8:35 p.m. and rushed to catch our 9:17 p.m. flight
to Dayton. We made it aboard with very little time to spare! Terry used
the plane's phone to tell her parents we were on our way and Tim would
like a ride too. We slept some and Terry caught up on our journal with
the help from Bob. We arrived right on time at 11:28 p.m. Wow! What a reception!
We were cheered off the plane by 20 people from our church. What a welcome
home!
