November 3, 2024: Hi John! I’ve been following your page for quite some time. My name is Willow and I am now the proud owner of Car 37! We successfully moved it to Moose Pass a few weeks ago and intend to turn it into a short term rental. I am a history buff and the unofficial town historian. I’ve attached some signs I’ve made over the years. I intend to make a sign for the train car as well and wondering if you had more information you could share with me about the car? Or any photos?
The property that I placed it on is a lot I have wanted since I was a kid going to Moose Pass school. It was owned by Mr. Jack Burton who is the longest railroad employee in history. He passed away a few years ago and his son sold the place to me. It’s rumored it was the first section house in town but I haven’t verified that yet. You may have seen Mr. Burton in the latest railroad exhibit at the Anchorage Museum. Last I went it was taken down so I’m not sure where the exhibit went. I thought it would be fitting to place a rail car at Jack’s old place to honor his legacy. And what better town than Moose Pass-where it all started!
