GP30 #2000 was acquired new in 1963.  It was the Alaska Railroad's first 2,250 H.P. diesel electric locomotive.  It arrived at Whittier on April 20, 1963 amid a blinding snowstorm.  It was rebuilt as GP30u 2504 in 1974.

The photo above was taken when she was first delivered.  It is along side of the Anchorage shops on the fuel rack.
