Sadly the ARR Power car # P-4 was scrapped at the Portola Railroad Museum on August 26, 2013. I took the attached photo that morning. By that night the car was gone. I didn't stay to watch.
The internal power equipment and some parts were saved.
Museum personal mentioned that the car had a structural/frame defect that made it unusable and not worth restoring for the use that the museum envisioned. They had planned on using it as the power car for their traveling exhibit train, so it would have had to meet all the UP and FRA specs and inspections.
Restoration may not have happened anyway as the Union Pacific has apparently recently changed their policy on moving non-UP owned equipment to the various events that the museum had brought their exibit rolling stock to.
It was among a number of cars/locos in poor condition scrapped by the museum.
