I’m a big fan of the big bridge and I’ve spent a fair amount of effort over the years trying to capture as many different angles as I can. Here an couple images taken 6/8/12.
Having taken Kodachrome images for 25+ years I’ve always presumed the only time to shoot the northbound freight on the Mears Bridge is the height of summer when sunup beats the train to the bridge. I was up at 5 to catch the northbound freight crossing the bridge at 6AM. This is one of the most intense areas for attacking bugs that I’ve ever been to, perhaps second only to Kwethluk, and that cold morning was no exception.
