On a cold and windy late fall day an ARR work train pauses along the shore of Turnagain Arm near MP 85 between Indian and Brookman sidings to dump some rip rap. The three GP40-2s (3002, 3012, 3008 in order) provide a history of the ARR in paint in chronological order from rear to front - the austere black and gold of the mid 1970s Federal days to the bold blue and yellow of 1980s and State ownership to the sophisticated scheme of today debuted in the 1990s on the SD70MACs and now the ARR's standard. Note: since this photo was taken 3002 & 3012 have joined their sister and received the current ARR scheme leaving no GP40-2s in the Alaska Bold scheme and only three in old school black.
