Here's the 1801 switching a business train in Fairbanks in the twilight hours of a June 1983 evening. Note the coaling tower and the authentic Alaskan vehicle waiting at the grade crossing. Those cars had great heaters! The business car Denali is at the end of this short train, which was in addition to the regular passenger train on that day. At work that summer there were four of us sharing a car and I was the bottom guy on the totem pole, so I needed to wait until everyone else was done with the car before I could go and take train pictures. On the few nice nights that we had that summer it was often nearly midnight before I could get out and get some of these shots. Glad I got this shot.
