The photo above is of the Alaska Rairoad's shop and service yards. You
will notice a number of interesting items, including many locomotives in
the blue and yellow Alaska Railroad scheme. Also notice what appears to
be a maintenance of way car in the left foreground. That is a Pullman World
War II troop sleeper or kitchen car. It appears that the Alaska Railroad
has found a maintenance of way use for this car. It is likely that the
car was obtained by the Alaska Railroad in the days when the line was operated
by the U.S. Federal Government's Department of Transportation. Once again,
Dick Morris of the Museum of Alaska Transportation and Industry writes:
"The Museum of Alaska Transportation and Industry in Wasilla has a flat
made from a sleeper, a sleeper and kitchen in fairly original condition,
and several sleepers gutted and converted to display space."
